The Dahua NVR4104HS-P-EI is a representative of the new generation of WizSense 4-series (EI) NVRs. This 4-channel IP NVR can record video from IP cameras with up to 16 Mpix resolution. With a high input bitrate of 80 Mbps, it works perfectly with high-resolution cameras. The NVR has a built-in 4-port PoE switch for direct connection and powering of IP cameras.
1 SATA port allows the connection of hard drives with a capacity of up to 16 TB. In the event of memory overflow, automatic overwriting is triggered to prevent loss of the latest data. Built-in USB ports allow you to plug in a memory stick or external drive and copy specific sections to external storage media.

The NVR has an SMD+ intelligent motion detection algorithm and Wizsense technology, which enables accurate filtering of objects such as people and vehicles. The NVR can implement intelligent motion detection or operate cameras equipped with this functionality on all channels. Perimeter protection, which includes filtering of people/vehicle objects, can be activated on 4 channels or can be implemented by the NVR on 2 channels. Thanks to precise recognition, the system can eliminate almost all false alarms.
The device also features face detection and recognition on 1 channel. It is possible to create 10 face libraries, on the basis of which it is possible to carry out searches, comparisons and trigger alarm actions, such as controlling the alarm output, activating the sounder or sending e-mail notifications in the event of a match or mismatch with recognised faces.

Quick Pick
The Quick Pick function allows to find an object of interest instantly. It works in conjunction with a camera equipped with this function. When playing back a recording, simply select the object of interest, such as a person or vehicle. An artificial intelligence-based algorithm will find and tag recordings containing objects with a similar colour scheme.

The image from the IP camera is sent to the NVR as a data stream. In the event of a computer network failure (reduction of its bandwidth), the information is irretrievably lost, as the network does not buffer it and the camera cannot resend it. With ANR (Automatic Network Replenishment) enabled, the camera can save recordings to a memory card in the event of connectivity problems with the NVR. When the failure ceases, the recordings are automatically transferred to the recorder. In the event of an interruption in transmission, the operator does not have to take any action in order to have a complete recording on the recorder. To use it, you must also have a Dahua IP camera equipped with a memory card slot and a microSD card.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) is the name of the IEEE standard for powering network devices via twisted pair cable while transmitting data. It is possible to supply power to devices such as cameras, telephones, switches, access points, etc. The guaranteed transmission distance for power supply is 100 m. The two most popular standards are 802.03af, which guarantees a minimum power of 12.95 W for end devices, and 802.3at – power of 25.5 W.

A very important parameter indicating the sophistication of the device is the compression. The better the type of compression, the less bandwidth is required for the same subjective quality. H.265 (HEVC - High Efficiency Video Coding) is currently the most efficient compression method. Compared to its predecessor (H.264), it reduces the data stream and storage requirements by half on average. As a result, hard drives with half the capacity can be used or recordings can be stored for twice as long. Its enhanced version H.265+ has been optimised for use in CCTV surveillance systems. Its use further reduces the data stream.

SmartPSS Lite (Smart Professional Surveillance System Lite) is an easy-to-use, free software for operating and managing Dahua products on a Windows and macOS computer. The software allows to conveniently carry out remote system configuration and then conduct live monitoring. Its intuitive and functional interface also allows you to view and download recordings, intelligently search, receive alarm events, two-way audio transmission, visualise the system on an e-map or record to your computer's hard drive.
DMSS is an application that allows the operation and management of Dahua products on Android and iOS mobile devices. It provides a wide range of surveillance and basic configuration options - live viewing (including multiple channels simultaneously), PTZ control, digital zoom, eavesdropping, playback of archive recordings and handling of alarm notifications. The app allows connectivity via IP addresses and via P2P cloud.
